Hammamet and Cap Bon: beaches, medinas and Punic history

Hammamet is one of Tunisia's best-loved resorts, with long beaches and a compact old town by the sea. To the north-east, the Cap Bon peninsula adds pottery villages, Punic ruins and quiet coastline.

Getting to Hammamet

Two airports serve Hammamet. From Enfidha-Hammamet, a private sedan costs €26; from Tunis-Carthage, €29. Either way, your Ventoura driver waits in arrivals and drops you at your hotel door.

Getting there: transfer prices

Fixed one-way price for a private sedan (up to 4 passengers). Vans, minibuses and coaches for bigger groups.

Hammamet

The walled medina and its kasbah sit right on the beach, perfect for an evening stroll. Yasmine Hammamet, to the south, has a marina, a theme park and many hotels.

Cap Bon

Nabeul is famous for its hand-painted ceramics. Further along the coast, Kerkouane is the only Punic town left almost untouched, and the fortress of Kelibia overlooks turquoise water. With your own driver, you can see all three in one relaxed day.

With children

Friguia Park, a short drive from Hammamet, has lions, elephants and giraffes, and makes an easy family day combined with the medina.
