Tunis-Carthage Airport (TUN): arrival guide

Tunis-Carthage is Tunisia's main international airport, just north-east of the capital. It is the closest airport to Tunis, Carthage, Sidi Bou Said and La Marsa, and a convenient gateway to Hammamet.

When you land

After passport control and baggage reclaim, you come out into the public arrivals hall. Your Ventoura driver is waiting right there with a sign showing your name, ready to help with your luggage.

If your flight is late, there is nothing to do: add your flight number when you book and your driver follows your arrival.

Transfer prices from Tunis-Carthage Airport

Fixed one-way price for a private sedan (up to 4 passengers). Vans, minibuses and coaches for bigger groups.

Getting to your hotel

The easiest way out of the airport is a private transfer booked before you fly. You know the price in advance, it is per vehicle rather than per person, and a 20% deposit by bank transfer secures it; you pay the rest to your driver at the end of the ride. A sedan to central Tunis costs €15, and to Hammamet €29.

Give us the exact address of your hotel, Airbnb or family home when you book, and your driver takes you right to the door. Most hotels in Tunis, Gammarth, La Marsa and Sidi Bou Said are under 40 minutes away; Hammamet and Yasmine Hammamet take about an hour by motorway.

Travelling as a family or a group? Vans seat up to 8, and micro buses, minibuses and coaches carry up to 54, so everyone arrives together with their luggage.

Money and SIM cards

The Tunisian dinar (TND) can only be obtained in Tunisia. Exchange offices and cash machines in the arrivals area let you get dinars as soon as you land. Keep your exchange receipts if you want to change money back when you leave. Your Ventoura driver also accepts euros and US dollars, by card or in cash.

Mobile operators have desks in the arrivals hall, where you can buy a local SIM card with data using your passport.

Make the most of your first days

Carthage, Sidi Bou Said and the Bardo Museum are all close to the airport, so they make an easy first day. Plan a day with your own driver in a few taps, or book a licensed local guide for the Medina of Tunis.
